It was during the Arab domination in Sicily that the cultivation of this precious fruit was introduced to the island, and thanks to its longevity, resistance and ability to grow on impervious terrain, it spread throughout the territory.
With its steep, volcanic soil and peculiar microclimate, the slopes of the Etna volcano and Bronte in particular are the unique and unrepeatable habitat of the pistachio, the territory that gives life to a Made in Italy excellence recognised and appreciated all over the world.
A source of inestimable wealth for the territory, the Pistacchio verde di Bronte D.O.P. - a denomination obtained in 2009 - is considered Etna's green gold, a highly prized fruit, inimitable in size and flavour compared to pistachios from Greece, the Middle East, California or Argentina.
An excellence recognised and appreciated all over the world for its organoleptic characteristics and great versatility.
The secret? Harvesting every 2 years, which allows the plant to absorb from the lava soil in which it grows all those nutrients that give the fruit its unmistakable aroma, fragrance and flavour.
